Sara Fitzsimon is the Policy Director at IEP, leading the development of IEP’s regulatory and legislative policy. Sara represents IEP in regulatory proceedings through comment drafting, workshops, and regulatory meetings. She advocates on behalf of IEP members in the legislature through position letters, coalition building, committee testimony, and bill language negotiation. Prior to joining IEP, she represented the Northern California Power Agency and the California Hydrogen Business Council. She has extensive experience with trade associations, policy development, conflict management, oral advocacy, administrative law, legal writing and research, and the regulatory and legislative processes. Sara received her bachelor’s in criminology from Wheeling Jesuit University and her Juris Doctor with a concentration certificate in California Lobbying & Politics from the McGeorge School of Law. Sara is a licensed attorney in the state of California. She is a member of the CA Latino Capitol Association Foundation and the American Bar Association. She volunteers with the Sacramento Tree Foundation, Tahoe Park Neighborhood Association, and Women Empowering Sacramento. Sara enjoys hiking, biking, gardening, rooting for the Sacramento Kings, and going on adventures with her Old English Sheepdog, Edith.
