Jan Smutny-Jones

Mr. Smutny-Jones has represented IEP located in Sacramento, CA since 1987. He has been a pivotal player in the California restructuring efforts, market reform, global climate change, and renewable energy policies. He served as Chair of the Governing Board of the California Independent System Operator, was a member of the Governing Board of the California Power Exchange, and he served on the Board of Directors for the Renewable Certification Program, “Green-E”. He also served as a member of the California Air Resources Board’s Economic and Technology Advancement Advisory Committee for Climate Change, and is an active member of the Yolo Basin Foundation.
Mr. Smutny-Jones is a graduate of Loyola Law School and is a member of the American, California State and Sacramento County Bar Associations. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University, Long Beach, and he holds a certificate in Environmental Management from the University of Southern California.
